This architecture photography project took on a little more personal feel. Since my father taught high school shop, welding and agriculture for 33 years, I was excited to photograph the Arkansas Oklahoma Carpenters Apprentice Training facility in Russellville Arkansas. As the title suggest, they train carpenters and metal workers, complete with classrooms, conference rooms, testing rooms, administration offices, state-of-the-art technology and of course a vast shop.
I was very impressed with the shop and to be the photographer for the architect. The size was, well, impressive, not that you would need to, but you could fit several semi trucks in it. So much space yet to be utilized with more equipment/machines coming in soon.
The facility also hosts two large classrooms, break room and a private testing room. All areas needed for a complete testing facility. At each end you'll find large loading / unloading docks with wood features that echo the front lobby.
The feature I was most impressed with was the repeating wood feature on each end and in the lobby ceiling. Great design by HTW Architects for the initial impressions of anyone who enters the front doors. The wood tones contrasted very nicely with the metal facade of the rest of the building drawing you eye to the creative wood design.
Truly an impressive facility by HTW Architects & Engineers and CBM Construction and, again, thankful to be their architectural photographer.
