Another architecture photography project for one of my favorite restaurants, Walk On's, this time in Columbia Missouri. I started to wear my Razorback hat to the shoot (if you don't know, Mizzo is in Columbia and Razorback rivals) but wanted to make sure the shoot went smooth and I made it home. :)
The timing on photographing a restaurant can be a challenge. After a restaurant is open, they work 7 days a week with very few hours without customers. Before it opens they are in training in one shape or form from sunrise to after dark every day for 1-2 weeks. Fortunately, we were able to schedule a Sunday with only about 10 people on site. Thankfully, with a little shuffling of obstacles & distractions, I was able to get some great images. Sadly they were still in training and opening the next day, so I didn't get to eat there.
Each Walk On's has a wall with wall paper featuring local college walk on's, thus the name of the restaurant. This restaurant has convenient location for easy access for any one including residents and college students. I have no doubt everyone in Columbia will enjoy the food, their burgers are great, my favorite is the adult grilled cheese and the desert has got to be the Doughnut bread pudding, made with krispi kreme donuts with icing and whip cream on top... anyone else getting hungry or is it just me?
During the architecture photography, I emphasize the features of the facility that the contractor wants to showcase. This includes the host station, eating areas, bar and kitchen. The exterior is always captured during daylight and at twilight. Twilight is my favorite, it always makes the building shine with accent lighting and signage.
It is always a pleasure photographing projects for Boen Kemp Construction. See more of our Architectural images in our Gallery.
