When I travel, I try to find new architecture or places to photograph to further enhance my architecture photography portfolio. I was recently in the Gainsville Florida area and found two buildings I thought were photo worthy. With the help of my nephew who works with University of Florida Police and my awesome niece, I was able to photograph the new Student Health Care Center as well as the Heavener Football Training Center. It was convenient that both buildings were beside each other.
I know my Arkansas friends will not be thrilled about this blog, but I'm about the building, not the team :) . So here it goes. (FYI have been and always a Razorback fan) This was my second self project at the University of Florida, the first being the football stadium aka The Swamp. The fun thing about the stadium is that it's always unlocked so people can come in and run the steps for exercise.
At 140,000 sq ft, the Heavener Football Training Center will serve as the Florida Gator's training facility. The practice field and locker room are housed next to each other for convenience as well as coaches offices and player areas. The enormity of college practice facilities are staggering, the meeting rooms, kitchen and dining that monitors what each player eats with recommended/required meals to keep them at their peak performance, the indoor pactice feilds allowing year round practice regardless of weather and commons areas where players can relax and
The UF Student Health Care Center is 46,000 sq ft next to the football training center. The facility has a infirmary, medical and psychiatric care, pharmacy services, women's clinic and more. This is the first Well Certified building on the University of Florida Campus.
